Jordan Peter Hirsch Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2011 by the family and friends of Jordan Peter Hirsch, and awarded to a full-time sophomore, junior or senior student with demonstrated academic merit (GPA of 3.0 or above). Preference for a student with demonstrated financial need, and preference for a student majoring in biological sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, geological sciences and environmental studies, or who has expressed an interest in the study of science. Student must be a non-smoker. To be considered, students will be required to write a one page essay on the dangers of fatigued driving and steps to take if feeling fatigued while driving.
Demonstrated financial need is required the applicant must also have a valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file for the applicable academic year by the application deadline. Recipients are chosen in the spring for the following academic year.

- In remembrance of Jordan, please write a personal essay on the dangers of driving while fatigued and suggested steps to take if feeling fatigued while driving. Use of known facts and statistics demonstrate a deeper knowledge of the issue, while personal experience shows understanding. The purpose of this essay is to raise awareness, provoke thoughtfulness, and possibly save a life.
