The Hammer Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2017 by Ms. Catherine Frankenbach and Dr. Harvey G. Stenger in memory of Charles Henry Frankenbach, Jr. Mr. Frankenbach was known as a successful and respected businessman, and for his contributions as a dedicated community leader. He will forever be remembered as “The Hammer”, a name signifying his stern but hugely generous nature. This scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore student who has demonstrated sincere and committed service to the university community, and/or the local community at large. Recipient must submit a one-page essay that describes the impact of this service. Annually, the recipient must submit one letter of recommendation for renewal of this honor. Letter of recommendation must describe how the student has continued to engage in community service over the past year. This scholarship may be renewable for an additional two years contingent upon the student’s continued eligibility as stated above.
